Two Suffolk County residents were killed in motor vehicle accidents in Suffolk County New York. Suffolk County police said a 48 year old female driver was thrown from her car and killed when she crossed the center median on Sunrise Highway in Patchogue and struck a bridge abutment. Port Jefferson Terryville firefighters used the "Jaws of Life" tool to rescue the driver of a motor vehicle involved in a two car car accident in Suffolk County NY. A Suffolk County man was hurt when he fell down a flight of stairs in a grocery store. Store workers had recently been painting the area near the top of the stairwell when they spilled paint on the floor. The men failed to mark off the area where the paint had been spilled and they negligently failed to properly clean the paint off the floor. The driver of a Ford Expedition crashed into the front of a home in Lindenhurst, NY. The accident caused a fire and explosion to both the motor vehicle and the home. North Lindenhurst firefighters put out the blaze in approximately 10 minutes. The car was completely destroyed and there was serious damage to the front of the home. A woman was run over by her own car in front of a Dunkin Donuts restaurant in Suffolk County. The family of a 13 year old Suffolk County boy claim he was injured when a minivan clipped him from behind as he was riding his bicycle to summer camp. The driver of the minivan did not stop at the scene after striking the boy. Nearby store owners came to the victims aid and called for medical assistance. A New York Tour bus veered off the side of a busy interstate due to a blown front tire. The driver lost control of the fully occupied bus when he felt the right front tire suddenly blow out, causing the bus to rapidly pull to the right side of the road. Two passengers were killed and thirty five others received a variety of injuries. Police investigators stated that all tire markings on the side of the road appeared to be normal just prior to the accident. The parents of a developmentally disabled 6 month old boy filed a lawsuit against the hospital and the medical doctors who delivered the baby. The lawsuit alleges that the doctors failed to begin a c-section delivery when they knew the unborn child was having difficulty getting oxygen during childbirth. A 26 year old Centerport, Suffolk County NY man was injured when his car flipped over due to a blown front tire. A man unloading wood from a flatbed truck at a Construction site in Suffolk NY was seriously hurt when the wood fell, crushing his legs against the side of the truck. The 32 year old construction worker was removing pallets of wood with a forklift when the load he was moving became unbalanced. When the worker went to re-balance the load, it spilled off the forklift and crushed his legs between the forklift and the flatbed truck. Two Suffolk County men were fatally injured when their car went off the road and struck a stand of trees along the side of the road. A driver of a car collided with a motorcycle when he attempted to make a left turn in front of him. A Suffolk County driver was hurt when his 2008 Corvette collided with a marked Suffolk Police car in Coram New York. The driver of a minivan was seriously hurt after she drove across a parking lot and into the front of a store in Dix Hills. A 35 year old mason was seriously injured when he fell from a scaffold that was improperly secured to a building. Earlier this year, an 86 year old woman was injured as the result of slipping on a patch of ice outside the grocery store near her home.
